The boss fights, against an impressively-sized roster of classic villains, are similarly repetitious and feel like a real missed opportunity. The combat system, modelled after the Batman: Arkham series, has some fine ideas but gets old very quickly. Unlike the best superhero games that let you really inhabit your favourite crime-fighters, Amazing Spider-Man 2 continually stops you having a brilliant time swinging around a gorgeous city to go watch boring cut-scenes and fight waves of samey bad guys. New York City looks the part in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Unfortunately the same amount of thought and polish isn't found throughout. The core of any great Spidey game – the web-slinging – is there and feels better than it has since 2004.

Most games can be played by four people even if you only have a couple of controllers, and the simple rules are perfect for adding your own stipulations. They include ridiculous pole-vaulting/pole-duelling game Super Pole Riders, retro-styled combat-focused ball game BariBariBall and eminently spectator-friendly 2v2 sports game Hokra.
The other three games are more traditional fare (meaning they use a television and graphics), but they're certainly no slouches. A friendly round of Johann Sebastian Joust, the no-screen physical multiplayer game that's been taking parties and events by storm for years, which is included as part of Sportsfriends (you don't have to play outside, it works just as well in a lounge room).
